The painting's finer than the drawing. Far more power.
Hi Eddie, not sure if you ignored my question or just didn't see it. In case it's the latter, I'm repeating it here :)
I was reading "Goodbye, Chunky Rice" when, to my surprise, I got to the end I noticed your and Alan's name in the "Thanks to" list. I recognised the guys from Top Shelf, but I was surprised to see any other familiar names.
I was just wondering how you and Alan crossed paths with Craig Thompson before he published his first book? (Was he known for other stuff and I'm just being ignorant?)
Either way it's nice to know that a new upcoming artist found recognition and support from established artists like yourself and Alan.
Johnny Walker,
sorry about that. i did see your question.
I remember Chris Staros asking me for a quote way back in the day. So we were with the same publisher in other words. Craig drew me a lovely picture by way of thanks, which had Bacchus with his characters. I printed it in an issue of Bacchus. I guess he has added a thanks into later editions of Chunky. I rank Craig wih the best and consider his Carnet de Voyage his best work. Frankly i marvel at and envy his facility in drawing. With Carnet he has mastered the challenge of telling his own story in a direct way.
Thanks for that, Eddie. That was a better story than I was expecting! I shall have to read Carnet de Voyage now. Thanks again!
