HAPPY 86th BIRTHDAY

to Eddie Campbell senior.
seen here in a story from 1985 long out of print.

However the words have become a catchphrase in this house and at least once a week somebody says "who's been swipin' lumps aff the cheese" in the best Scottish accent they can muster, which is usually as good as the real thing.

But now you'd have to tell us the story behind that drawing...

it was a funny little story titled 'the Crow'. it wasn't based on truth (though the above line was actually spoken) so much as the assorted fears felt by the fellow, Charles, whom my sister brought home and who would in due course become her husband.

the best line in it was (not actually spoken except in the meeting as imaginatively pre-rehearsed by the subject) : "Would you like to go out for a drink, Charles?" 'Why, yes, Mr Campbell" "Guid, cause ah'm stayin' in."
