last time I was in Melbourne I was quite taken with some humorous statuary around the footpaths (or sidewalks as they say in the yoo ess) (or 'the pavement' as they say in the yoo kay) . Here's another:

Passenger 'moons' at speed camera- BBC News- 1 May- (with photo)
A front seat car passenger was photographed baring his backside at a speed camera in Northumberland.(via our bare botty correspondent)
The "mooning" man was snapped by the mobile camera as the black BMW X5 drove past on the A1171 Dudley Lane in Cramlington last month. Safety campaigners have labelled the man as a "fool"

I feel a yearning to hear once more Mike Harding singing his song 'Manuel'.
Manuel dancesI may have misremebered the lyrics, but that's the way I sing them at the dinner table. I'd love to hear anyone confirm, deny or send a video link as I can't find one..

Ah, I knew I left my giant coin purse lying around somewhere...
Eddie, can you do me a favour and bring it back with you when you return?
I like the new big fork in a spud meself, but I'm afraid it won't be permanent.
The 30 second ITunes sample of Manuel supports your memory.
I thought last fm might have it for streaming, but no luck. Lots of other Harding songs.
Only Bomber's Moon seems to have video on YouTube.
Eddie,
Nielsen Book Data has it that the publication of Monsieur Leotard has slipped to August in the USA and September in the UK. Now, knowing Nielsen is frequently wrong, I was wondering if you'd been advised of any change, as I thought I'd get my hands on a copy sooner than the autumn...
Ben Smith
you should be able to get one as early as late July in the US. I said I wouldn't be at san diego if the book wasn't there. And I'll be signing at Pag 45 first week of Aug. book will be there too. I imagine it will be everywhere else fairly quickly after that. My publisheralrady has some advance copis and I'm hoping to have one n my hand before the end of the week.
I hope the book will be ready on time. I'd really like to come and meet you at Page 45 (although I still have to figure out where it actually is).
Is it a Page 45 exclusive or will you be coming down to London to sign while you're in the UK?
Ben Smith
ben,
I didn't set out to make it an exclusive, but I'll be based in Blackpool and one outing is all i can face, so Nottingham is not too far. London IS too far. So it winds up being an exclusive.
Ah well, maybe next time for us southerners.
I'm trying to remember your link to Blackpool from Alec. Without the books in front of me, the story I remember was were the woman lost her false-teeth while you were working as a barman?
I was going to say I hope the weather stays nice (as it is this week) for your visit, instead of the solid grey skies we had all last summer. But then again, some British drizzle may be a nice change for you.
Ben Smith
yes, My parents live near there. having left home I had to retreat back there temporarily about twenty five years ago at the age of 28... these things happen i suppose. let's hope it doesn't happen again... the klife of the freelancer is so insecure.
