i'm drawing at the same time as listening to the Benny Goodman 1933 sessions that included Billie Holiday's first time in a recording studio, and I'm trying to remember who it was that said that the best way to find out whether your ink is still wet is to drag your sleeve through it.

Oh those are good. I remember back when I was in high school spending my entire savings on the boxed set of the complete Bluebird recordings that had been newly digitally remastered at that point. When I got my turntable working again a few years ago it was one of the first things I listened to on it.
I don't know who said it, but soemhow I always end up finding out in that fashion.
