A Big Spread-1
I'm scanning and preparing Bacchus for its big printing coming up soon. This spread was tricky. It's four pages that all connect up to show a huge absurd brawl in a pub. In the original comic it was printed on two spreads, and will be probably be in the same configuration this time around. You can click on it and blow it up to the width of your screen. Bigger than that if you like..
The original is in two large pieces 22x17 inches and I drew it with Pete Mullins away back in April 1996. A four-page spread is something I always wanted to do at least once in my life after Jim Steranko, a childhood hero of mine, did it back in April 1968.
I got the Steranko scan from Bully's blog. You'll need to go there for the enlargeable version.

Questions arise...
Is that a big 'complete' Bacchus in the manner of The Years Have Pants?
...In how many volumes, surely it's too many for a single one?...
Will it have the fully-painted Bacchus story with the whale skin outfit?...

Ben,
Complete catalogue is over 1100 pages, so it will be two volumes each about the size of From Hell. The colour story won't be included.
Way, way back, the SHIELD story with that four-page spread was reprinted in Britain, in colour, in one of Marvel UK's weeklies. The printer managed to foul up the colour pages that week (hlaf the comic was in colour, half in black and white), putting various pages in the wrong order. In the following issue, the colour pages were reprinted as a supplement, this time in the correct order.
Result: we lucky UK readers could spread out two consecutive issues and see the full majesty of the four-page spread; plus, at a larger page size than in the original printing.
Greatly looking forward to the Bacchus collections.

Looking forward to a complete Bacchus!
Cheers Eddie. You'll be rivalling Jonathan Franzen in the brick sized book dept once they're out!
No chance the 4 page spread can be done as a fold-out?
That Bacchus spread is a thing of beauty.
This cat agrees with Michael. The four-page habdabs should most definitely be a fold-out.

How far along is this? Will the original covers be included in the books as well? I love those paintings! Can't wait to hear more.
+1 for fold-out, whatever it's worth by now.
Loads of covers will be interspersed though the volumes, but in black and white half tone alas.
Ah, some are better than none. You have no idea how many times PER WEEK I keep checking for a release date on this thing...
