I'm sad to hear that Sheldon Moldoff has died, at the age of 91. I was just talking about him a few days ago.

Hi Eddie, this is sad to hear. Poison Ivy has always been a favourite for me.

I also have a question for you: we met last year at Graphic at the Sydney Opera House and you signed my copy of From Hell. I think you may have got distracted telling me that the bantam on my copy was smaller than the later edition because you did a lovely sketch of a Victorian lady and wrote "To Amber, Best, Eddie Campbell". I just wanted to know what that was going to say? Best wishes? Best of luck? Best friends? Ha ha!
Anyway, was great to meet you :)

Amber,

It was nice to meet you too!

Sorry, I let a week go by.
I have a heap of these gibbering anecdotes I parcel out while I'm signing, and they sound dumb now that I'm sitting here at home. I must have been about to launch into the one about my design guy finding fault with just about everything on the cover designs that Bantam sent to us. The final thing was the size of the publisher's logo, the bantam cock, on the spine. So we said that he took out the bantam cock and put in his own.
it was funny for about ten minutes in 2001. Can't believe I'm still telling it. ho, hum

best

Eddie

Hi Eddie,

With the big Bacchus books upcoming, I was wondering if you've read and have any thoughts on the Japanese wine-manga Drops of God?

Hi Eddie,

This article reminded me of the court sketchings you and Pete used to do, and the differences you once pointed out on this blog. The subject matter's a little more upmarket, but the concept is similar - and there's a neat interactive feature in it too.

Hi, Eddie,

while I admire the accidental (maybe not) symmetry of restarting and reshelving your blog with comments on the passing of Batman ghost artists a year apart, I miss your occasional comments and musings on stuff, comics and otherwise. I hope you're well and I'm looking forward to The Lovely, Horrible Stuff and your round of interviews elsewhere if that's what's keeping you away.

I am 35 years old and have been a comic fan now for 10 years. I have a one year old son. Rather than read him your typical bed time story's that commercialize the shelves, I choose comic books and he loves them. I even managed to find him a pair of Spider Man sunglasses

hi eddie - we had spoken over 25 years ago when i wrote to you as an early teenager and my love of your Bacchus. you were so kind to actually write back and also include a page fom Bacchus. as much as i enjoyed Bacchus back then i recently re-read them all and was struck by the wit of the telchines by the erudition of simpson, by how well read and diverse the whole thing is now that as an adult i am actually well read enough to get most of the references.

this blog doesnt seem very active is this the best way to contact you? re-reading Bacchus recently its clear to me how much you had inspired and influenced me in my own work without me ever having realized that before (i'm writing an epic poem about the gods returning to earth after a 3000 year absence). i'd love to share that work with you to get your thoughts and opinion (if you wouldnt mind).
